Biography: Tom Coolen utilizes his vast coaching experience, coupled with his Mental Performance Consultant designation to assist athletes, coaches, and teams to improve performance and to reach their goals. As a former Olympic, NHL, World Championship, and University coach, Tom brings an insight into his practice which has been shaped by his exposure to high-performance sport for over thirty years. He is a two-time CIS "Coach of the Year" and a three-time AUS "Coach of the Year".

Ashley Duguay, PhD

Mental Performance Consultant

Professional Affiliations: Owner, Team First Consulting; Adjunct Instructor, Center for Sport Leadership - Virginia Commonwealth University

Biography: Ashley Duguay holds a PhD from the University of Windsor (Kinesiology - Sport and Exercise Psychology) and has also earned an MHK (Sport and Exercise Psychology) from the University of Windsor and an MEd (Sport Leadership) from the Center for Sport Leadership (CSL) at Virginia Commonwealth University. Ashley is an adjunct instructor with the CSL where she teaches Sport Psychology and Team Dynamics in Sport for their Master of Sport Leadership program. She also owns her own consulting business, Team First Consulting, where she seeks to facilitate the development of mental performance skills, attitudes, qualities, processes, and perspectives to enhance clients' (e.g., athletes, teams, coaches, sport organizations) mental performance while helping them achieve positive personal development and performance improvement.

Ryan Hamilton, PhD

Mental Performance Consultant

Professional Affiliations: President, Hamilton Performance Consulting; Associate Professor, University of New Brunswick; Consultant, Canadian Sport Centre Atlantic

Biography: Ryan holds a PhD from the University of New Brunswick in Experimental and Applied Psychology (sport focus) and has also earned a Master’s degree in sport and exercise science and a bachelor’s degree (honours) in psychology. Dr. Hamilton is an associate professor in the department of Psychology at the University of New Brunswick and is a recent recipient of the Arts Faculty Teaching Excellence Award. Ryan is a sport psychologist with the Canadian Sport Centre in New Brunswick, works extensively with the UNB Varsity Reds programs, has attended 3 Canada Games with Team New Brunswick (2009, 2011, 2013), and the Commonwealth Games with Team Canada (2014). Ryan has consulted with athletes from more than 30 different sports with specific expertise in combat sports and hockey. Ryan's experience in hockey spans all levels - including major junior hockey, the American Hockey League, Hockey Canada, and the National Hockey League (NHL) where he is in his third year with an NHL franchise. Ryan has an extensive research program that informs his practice and is a highly regarded keynote and invited speaker.
