Biography:

When Dr. MacAdam started private practice in 2005 as a chiropractor, she was interested in cognitive behavioural therapy for managing back and neck pain. She started to investigate the current literature and concluded that there was a lack of research in the area so she decided to enroll in a Masters Degree Program at Dalhousie University in 2006 to further investigate her theory.

Her Master Thesis entitled, "Does guided imagery as an adjunct to chiropractic treatment affect pain and disability in physically active adults with chronic low back pain?" concluded that guided imagery may be beneficial as an adjunct to spinal manipulative therapy in the treatment of chronic low back pain. Her first published research was in the Journal of Manipulative and Physiological Therapeutics in 2005. Dr. MacAdam is certified as a Mental Performance Consultant with the Canadian Sports Psychology Association. She received her education and training through attaining a Masters Degree in Science with a focus in guided imagery. She uses the following techniques in the clinic setting: Relaxation, Stress Management, Guided Imagery, Hypnosis, Chronic Pain Management, Injury Rehabilitation, and Recovery and Regeneration Techniques.
