Bio

Sharleen Hoar (PhD., Certified Mental Performance Consultant, High Performance Sport Scientist Canada Certified) holds the role of Lead, Mental Performance at Canadian Sport Institute Pacific. She also holds the role of Lead, of Mental Performance and Mental Health, for Sport Scientist Canada High Performance Advisory Council. Sharleen attended the 2014 Commonwealth Games and the 2015 Pan American Games, and supported clients through five Olympic/Paralympic games including the 2010 and 2014 Winter Olympic Games in Vancouver (Canada) and Sochi (Russia), as well as the 2016, 2020, and 2024 Summer Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro (Brazil), Tokyo (Japan), and Paris (France).  Over the past decade, Sharleen worked with a diverse array of Canadian Provincial and National high performance athletes including badminton, bobsled, cross country skiing, cycling (BMX racing, MTB XC, Road, Track Endurance), women’s rugby 7s, soccer, swimming, triathlon and paratriathlon.  Sharleen is also a RESET instructor.


Sharleen received a Ph.D. in Sport & Exercise Psychology from the University of British Columbia, a M.Sc. in Applied Sport Psychology from University of Idaho and is an Affiliate Associate Professor with University of Victoria (Victoria, BC). Sharleen continues to be an active post-secondary instructor, teaching applied sport psychology in Graduate Studies and serving in supervisory/examiner roles on Graduate Student projects. She is a research collaborator in the areas of emotion-regulation, the science of practice, and performance recovery with high performance athletes and coaches. 


Sharleen is a registered member with Association of Applied Sport Psychology, International Society for Sport Psychology (ISSP-R), and Sport Scientist Canada.
