The CSPA Early Career Professional Award (ECPA) is presented on an annual basis to a CSPA professional member in acknowledgement of their exceptional professional practice in the area of mental performance consulting in Canada.

Award Criteria

The award recipient must:

Be a current CSPA professional member and Certified Mental Performance Consultant® (CMPC).
Have applied for the award within three years of becoming a professional member of the CSPA.

Nature of Award

The award recipient will receive an award certificate and $500.00

Applicants will be assessed through the demonstration of the following:

Exceptional professional practice in the area of mental performance consulting with athletes and/or coaches in Canada at any level
Contributions to mental performance consulting in Canada
Academic publications
Non academic publications
Other contributions
Reference letters

Procedure

Applicants must complete the “Call for Nomination” Form for the CSPA Early Career Professional Award

Applicants must ask 3 referees to electronically submit a letter of recommendation.

Letters of recommendation should be provided by a client, a coach, and a CSPA professional member.
Referees must justify in less than 750 words why they feel the applicant should receive the award by describing and giving examples of exceptional practice in the field, service to the sport community, and/or professional involvement.

Nominations are evaluated by the CSPA Review Committee, who will then make a recommendation to the Managing Council for ﬁnal approval.

The award recipient will be notified by email in early May 2025

In order to receive the award, the recipient must submit a 1-to-2-page submission or article to the CSPA Managing Council on the topic of mental performance consulting. This article will be included in a future CSPA nationally-circulated newsletter!
