Biography: 

Lauren McBride, Ed.D., is a Registered Psychologist with the College of Psychologists of British Columbia and a Certified Mental Performance Consultant (CMPC) based in Vancouver, BC.


Dr. McBride has practiced as a Staff Psychologist at the University of British Columbia Counselling Services for over a decade and holds the role of Associate Director, Clinical Services. As part of her role at UBC she provides mental health and mental performance support to Varsity Athletes. Her background in both sport and counselling psychology provides a unique perspective to the concerns of student-athletes.


Dr. McBride currently holds a part time position as the Mental Health Lead for the Canadian Sport Institute-Pacific (CSI-P). In this role she supports the Institute and Institute Partners to increase mental health literacy and connect National Team athletes to appropriate resources to support their mental health and wellbeing needs.


Dr. McBride held a contract role with the Canadian Sport Institute Pacific for over a decade as a mental performance consultant supporting various National and Provincial Sport Organizations such as Biathlon, Luge, Freestyle Skiing and Snowboard. She had the privilege to support Canadian Team Athletes at the 2014 Winter Games held in Sochi, Russia.


Dr. McBride is a professional member of the Canadian Sport Psychology Association and the Canadian Psychological Association. Dr. Mcbride is also certified in Biofeedback through the Biofeedback Certification International Alliance (BCIA). She earned a Ed.D. in Counselling Psychology with a Sport Psychology specialization from Boston University and went on to complete her pre-doctoral internship at Western Washington University's Counseling Center and a post-doctoral internship at the University of British Columbia's Counselling Services. She also received her Ed.M. in Counseling Psychology, with a Sport Psychology specialization from Boston University and B.A. in Psychology from the University of British Columbia.
