How to find a balance between too much, or not enough feedback for mentees

The Mentorship Committee invites our mentors to join on June 24th at 7:00pm ET /4:00pm PT, where we will explore “How to find a balance between too much, or not enough feedback for mentees” through the lens of Laura G. Farres (PhD, ChPC, RCC, CMPC), Simon Taylor (CMPC) and Matthew Bain (MEd., MA, R.Psych). This webinar explores using feedback effectively in mentorship through the lens of self-determination theory (SDT). Facilitators will discuss key elements of feedback such as how often to give it, its intensity, and the best times to provide it along with ways to encourage independence while still fostering growth. Through theory, practical examples, and experiences shared, participants will be encouraged to reflect on their approach to feedback, the ways they seek to meet individual psychological needs and create supportive environments for mentees. Non-CSPA members can join for the price of $75 CAD.

Le comité du mentorat convie les mentor·e·s de l’ACPS à l’échange du 24 juin à 19 h HNE/16 h HNP, où nous explorerons « Qu’est-ce qu’une rétroaction insuffisante ou exagérée pour les mentoré·e·s? Trouver l’équilibre. » du point de vue de Laura G. Farres (Ph. D., EPA, CCA, CMPC), de Simon Taylor (Ph. D., CMPC) et de Matthew Bain (M. Ed., MA, R. Psych). Ce séminaire en ligne explorera l’utilisation efficace de la rétroaction d’information (feedback) en mentorat basée sur la théorie de l’autodétermination (TAD). Les animateur·trice·s discuteront des éléments clés de la rétroaction (fréquence, degré et moment opportun pour la fournir) et des diverses façons d’encourager l’autonomie tout en favorisant le développement. En se basant sur la théorie, sur des exemples pratiques et sur le partage d’expériences, les participant·e·s pourront revoir leur approche de rétroaction et la façon dont elles ou ils s’efforcent de répondre aux besoins psychologiques individuels tout en créant des environnements de soutien pour les mentoré·e·s. Les non-membres de l’ACPS sont invité·e·s à participer au coût de 75 $ CA.
