Classification: An Integrated Approach

The EDIA committee invites you to join the conversation on June 14th where we will explore the para-athlete classification process through the lens of CMPC Dr. Sommer Christie (she/her), Head Coach Patrick Côté (he/him), Athletic Therapist Marnie McRoberts (she/her) and Paralympian Shayne Smith. This webinar is based on their lived experiences of the classification process within the sport of wheelchair rugby. It will cover what classification is, the para-athlete experience of classification, the psychological impact of the classification integrated approach to supporting athletes through the classification process, and mental performance-specific recommendations for supporting para-athletes through the classification process. Participants will be exposed to and gain insight into the current research in the area of accessibility and increase their knowledge of how to incorporate the lens of accessibility in their practice as an MPC/CMPC. This webinar has been approved for 1.5 Continuing Education Unit credits (CEU) for certified CMPCs (1 Diversity-Specific and 0.5 General). Non-CSPA members can join for the price of $75 CAD. See the link in our bio to register!
