Bio

Dr. Zarina A. Giannone is a Registered Psychologist and Certified Mental Performance Consultant in British Columbia. She maintains a specialty practice in the assessment and treatment of psychological issues experienced by athletes and other performers in evaluative and pressurized contexts like the arts, business, law, and emergency response professions.


Dr. Giannone offers mental health and mental performance services to adolescents and adults from diverse sports, competition levels, and personal backgrounds/abilities. Her personal history of playing high-performance soccer has positioned her well to work with driven, passionate, and achievement-oriented individuals. She is skilled at using a wide range of therapies that address the unique needs of each client/team and is committed to helping people perform up to their potential.


Dr. Giannone is also an Adjunct Professor at the University of British Columbia. Her award-winning research focuses on identity development and intervention among athletes undergoing sport career transition.

Additional Training

A true scientist-practitioner, Dr. Giannone remains on the cutting-edge of her profession by regularly attending professional development trainings and workshops. Recently, she completed advanced training in the area of neurodevelopmental disorders (e.g., ADHD, SLD), post-traumatic stress disorder, anxiety disorders, and for concerns specific to athlete populations.
